Doves
"We find it hard to believe that today some people still have prejudices over race, colour or creed. If these same people are standing up to voice their opinions, we can’t just sit back and let it go unchallenged."
Manchester-based three piece Doves are twin brothers Jez and Andy Williams, and old schoolmate Jimi Goodwin. They formed ten years ago in the wake of the acid house phenomenon.
As Sub Sub they notched up a dance inflected hit with "Ain't No Love". These days their sound is experimental and rockier, full of emotion and bitter experience.
Mercury-nominated debut LP "Lost Souls" was followed this year by "The Last Broadcast" - another highly rated effort featuring hit singles "There Goes The Fear", "Pounding" and "Caught By The River".
Doves headlined Manchester's Love Music Hate Racism carnival in September.
