"LOVE MUSIC HATE RACISM is proud to return to Stoke for a second year

to stir up racism in Stoke but most local people want to get on, and this
Carnival weekend is a chance to celebrate what we have in common - we Love
Music and Hate Racism! We have a wicked line-up featuring top acts from
across the music spectrum - whether you like reggae, indie, hip-hop, punk,
bhangra, garage or all the above there's something for you. Add to this a
full fairground and dozens of games, workshops and attractions and you've
got a brilliant day out for music lovers, families, and everybody"

EXCITING NEW WAVE OF UK BANDS UNITE IN SUPPORT OF LMHR @ 'JOYFEST' NEXT WEEKEND
August 06, 2004, 06:44 PM

There's currently an explosion of new exciting rock bands in the UK, led by The Libertines, who seem to be reacting against the conservatism of chart pop and formulaic 70s throwback garage rock bands in the indie scene. With a DIY ethic, these bands are attempting to by-pass the corporate music biz with 'guerilla gigs' and original musical reference points.

Many of these bands have already played one or more gigs for LMHR, and some of the best of them are now uniting next weekend (14-15 Aug) for a remarkable festival at Hackney's Ocean club.

'LOVE MUSIC HATE RACISM' EP by FUTURE PILOT AKA RELEASED
August 05, 2004, 06:15 PM

LMHR has its first vinyl release this week - on the Geographic label, part of Franz Ferdinand label Domino!

Put together by Future Pilot AKA of Glasgow, who appeared at May's Sunderland LMHR carnival, and featuring Clash producer Mikey Dread, Scotland's finest bhangra artists Tigerstyle, as well as White Town, it's well worth buying. here's the press release:

"Geographic is proud to announce the release of a strictly limited edition heavyweight (180gm) 12 inch dub plate, featuring re-workings of Mein Nehi Jana, the uplifting opening track from the kaleidoscopic album Salute Your Soul, by some of the wickedest sound practitioners on this here planet: step forward White Town, Mikey Dread, Tigerstyle and Max Tundra.

The ep borrows its title from the Anti-Nazi League’s vital ‘Love Music, Hate Racism’ campaign, and has the full backing and support of the organisation. Love Music, Hate Racism continues the important work of earlier campaigns like Rock Against Racism. At a recent soundclash for ANL in Sunderland, a potential BNP growth spot, Future Pilot AKA performed alongside dub legend Mad Professor and GZA (Wu Tang Clan) in the name of freedom, unity and racial equality."

The project was also the subject of an excellent three-page article in the Scottish edition of the 'Big Issue' last week - which we'll post up here when our scanner stops playing up!
