STOKE LMHR CARNIVAL

Event organised, financed and supported by:-
Anti Nazi League, Stoke-on-Trent City Council, Stoke-on-Trent Mayor's Office, Fire Brigades Union, UNISON, Stoke Trades Council, NORSCARF, Stoke Racial Equality Council, various national and regional trade unions, and Absolute Design of Stoke.
The Carnival is part of the response from anti-racists in the city to the racist BNP gaining a council seat there in May's local elections. The vast majority of people in Stoke want nothing whatever to do with fascist parties like the BNP, and the Carnival will be a positive celebration of multicultural Stoke, a show of multiracial unity through music. The event will also have a positive impact on a council by-election in the city just under two weeks later (18 Sept), where the BNP will again be trying to con their way into office. The Carnival will be a free, open-air, daytime event, comprising a main stage for live bands, plus second stage within a marquee featuring DJs. Music on the day will aim to have something for everyone in keeping with the Unity theme of the event: from rock to hip-hop, from bhangra to drum'n'bass.
In addition the great musical line-up, there will be food and drink; a funfair; kids area with playground, bouncy castle, entertainers and professional child-carers; drumming and skipping workshops; stalls; prominent local speakers

THE STANDS (hotly-tipped Liverpool band, Noel Gallagher faves, with beautifully-crafted classic 60s-styled guitar pop)
METZ & TRIX (the biggest and best Asian DJ/MC act in the UK, if not the world!)
SKITZ & RODNEY P (the UK's top hip-hop producer and MC - from BBC Radio 1Xtra with their live show)
THE MOUNTAINEERS (from Liverpool via Wrexham & the Czech Republic .. "like The Doors and The Beatles being given a computer, a drum machine and the kitchen sink to play with.")
BIG CASH PRIZES (controversial and infamous rock n roll local heroes)
MISS BLACK AMERICA (fantastic passionate young rock band with a devoted following, just finished headlining a LMHR national tour!)

THE ZIMBABWEAN SINGERS (Lively traditional music from group of local Zimbabwean refugees)

To finish off the LMHR summer tour in style, and to launch the split MBA/Cultural Ice Age 7" yellow-vinyl ANL benefit single, we're at the infamous 100 Club in London. See you down there!
We'd like to take this opportunity to give a big shout to the bands for all their hard work in making the tour happen the last few weeks - nice one!
LMHR SUMMER TOUR - LATEST NEWS

Due to unforseen circumstances (i.e. the disappearance of the venue owner), we're sorry to say that the BLACKBURN date of the tour (tomorrow night, Monday 4th) has had to be cancelled. We apologise to everyone who was going to come down to see MBA and the rest, but look out for the band and another LMHR event in the town very soon.
There've been some good turnouts and great performances from all the bands so far, with Exeter probably the standout so far, and most importantly loads of interest in the ANL/LMHR stalls that've accompanied each gig, with lots of new people joining the ANL, and plenty of t-shirts and badges bought!
